St. Mary’s Lake is located a few kilometers west of the quaint town of Kimberly and is easily accessed via St. Mary’s Lake Road. Located approximately 4 kilometers south of the Town of Kimberley, St. Mary’s Lake Road is partially paved and provides access to the lake, the St. Mary’s Valley, and a handful of private properties.
In close proximity to the town of Kimberly and the Highway, St. Mary’s Lake is less than a 30-minute drive to local ski resorts, world-class golf courses and a wide variety of four season amenities. It is not anticipated that access upgrading will be required for any future use. Power is available within the area, although the municipality does not currently service this property.
St. Mary’s Lake itself is approximately 900 acres in size and provides for excellent fly-fishing. Limited development exists within the area, with only a few seasonal cabins located on the Lake’s eastern end and a recent subdivision of waterfront properties on the north side of the lake. The St. Mary’s Valley is home to a number of residents, most of whom reside on larger acreages.
Unlike the Okanagan region that has considerable private lakefront available, the East Kootenay Region has a more limited supply. Given the ‘oil patch’ influence in this region and the limited supply of properties, lakefront values have been steadily increasing.
