Approximately 460 acres in size, DeCourcy Island includes one of the Gulf Island’s most popular marine parks, Pirates Cove Provincial Park. Consisting of 60 acres, this park includes camping sites, hiking trails and of course a large area of Pirates Cove. Although there is a considerable area for protected anchorage within the cove, the Island has its own private dock with leased moorage available to Island residents only.
DeCourcy Island has a rich and colourful history that has been documented in countless books and newspaper articles. The full and part-time residents maintain a very active and welcoming community association that includes a volunteer fire department. Although the Island does not have any municipal services, it does have a BC Highways maintained gravel road. Well water is proven across the Island, with many residents choosing to utilize solar systems for their power needs.
If you are looking for a quiet and secluded island with great neighbours, DeCourcy Island provides the best that island living has to offer. Nanaimo is a vibrant and growing city only 25 minutes away by boat, while Gabriola and Cedar are just minutes away.
